Our worship service takes place on Sunday at 10:30 AM. We also broadcast this on Facebook Live. Our Food Pantry remains open on the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 9-11 AM.
Christ Ascension is an Episcopal Church located in the Northside of Richmond on Laburnum Avenue. Christ Ascension has deep roots in the Richmond area going back to the communities of Church Hill (Christ Episcopal Church) and Highland Park (Episcopal Church Of The Ascension).
In the early 1950’s, Christ Church relocated to Laburnum Avenue. In 1970, Episcopal Church Of The Ascension merged with Christ Church to become Christ Ascension Episcopal Church.
When you walk into Christ Ascension, you will find a diverse, inclusive community of people. Young and older. Progressive and conservative. Straight and gay. Believer and seeker. Some have been members their entire lives. Others have joined from different faith backgrounds. Everyone is welcome at Christ Ascension. No exceptions. This includes you.
We are serious about our faith, and we also like to have fun. Our monthly potluck meals strengthen ties and friendships and build community. You can hear laughter when our weekly bible study meets. Our services are filled with warmth and welcome.
We are also a community called to serve. Our Food Pantry serves those that need a little extra. We minister to women and young men who are incarcerated. We assist other northside churches with meals and general support for CARITAS. And, throughout the year, we meet additional needs of the community through special collections such as toiletry items, clothing, and school supplies.
